Abstract
The article deals with the adversarial model of judicial system, adopted by Russian procedural legislation in the course of the Judicial Reform 1864. It bases on the analysis of legislative provisions, the rulings of the Imperial Directing Senate and related studies and focuses on procedural functions of panel of judges and prosecution’s officials. It deals also with correlation between an adversariality principle and the procedural task of truth ascertainment. The concrete legal elements were examined through the lens of adversariality display as well as of the remained features of the inquisitional proceedings.
