Abstract

The reality of the ancient polis as a collective of citizensis is proportional to the degree of discrimination of the slaves, and inversely proportional to the degree of inequality of free citizens to slaves. Opposition “freedom - slavery" attains its maximal intensity in the era of the civil community strife while being minimal in the preceding and subsequent ages.
