Abstract
Growing shortage of historicism in contemporary public consciousness stimulates interest in research of a-historical cultures, exemplified by antiquity. Antique way of thinking is characterized by specific spatial associative, a wealth of evidence of the fact being contained in philosophical and other texts by Greek and Roman authors. These features allow for a fresh look at the negative attitude towards labor, the pursuit of polis autonomy and other values, that is so characteristic of the antiquity practices as well as at the institutions of Greek-Roman world.
