Abstract
When and how did Russian medicine begin? Should one trust in folk medicine? How did official medicine treat folk one? All this subjects are involved in the article by MD S.A. Smirnov in Moskovskie Vedomosty newspaper published in 1852. Its author addresses himself to Russian history and tells of the first healers serving to Russian dukes, of the establishment of Physic Garden in Moscow, of sending Russian children abroad by Peter I to study medicine.
