Abstract
Some explicit and implicit epistemological, ontological and methodological postulates of "mechanistic rationalism" impending our comprehension of culture and cultural dynamics, especially the one in primitive and archaic societies are considered. The necessity to treat "transcendent" as a really existing entity is argued, though the criteria of "reality" and "existence" may need some reviewing in this case. The objective reality of the Culture as an autonomous subject having specific the goals and instruments of its own is affirmed
