Abstract
In the ontology of antiquity the being was understood as a difference; the opposition "Human being — an animal" is quite an example of this approach. The classical period is characterized by a maximum intensity of the opposition, while in the archaic and post-classic periods the degree of contrast between Human being and animal is relatively minimal. At the same time, the types of this opposition in pre-classic and late periods differ maximally, while in the classical period the difference is minimal. Based on the analysis of the material, the author offers a new method of conceptualizing social reality of antiquity, combining logic and dialectics of categories of sameness and difference.
