Abstract
The article demonstrates the possibility to analyze cultural and historical mentality patterns through the lenses of the typical images of some or other epoch. This is demonstrated by the example of Petersburg youth of the second half of the XIX c. The author argues that any structural element of a typical historic image is socially determined, and the whole image completely reflects the acsiological system. Cultural senses and meanings are coded in the interconnected signs of image. Image as a corporally-oriented practices discloses the life sense and life strategy.
