Abstract
The article gives an analysis of the role of genealogy and genetics in personal identity formation. The concepts of a genealogical identity and genetic identity are considered. The problem of correspondence between individuals' genetics and genealogy is discussed. Much attention is paid to the philosophical aspects of genetic genealogy that is an applied discipline that has changed all the understanding of personal identity. The transformation of identities under the influence of social change is touched upon. The methods of constructing genealogical narratives are described.
